Thank you to our amazing art teacher, Mrs. Giles, who displayed some of our student's work at Lewis Ginter this week. Mrs. Giles elected to participate in their GardenFest of Lights that opens on November 17 and runs through January 4. In the Lora M. Robins Library, you will see handmade natural wood trees built by volunteers and decorated by HCPS students. Mrs. Giles was given the theme "The Elements" and decided to use the inspiration of Yayoi Kusama. She then inspired the students by the Japanese garden. Kusama's work features lots of colorful mushrooms covered in patterns and dots, so our 4th graders made these to represent the earth and birds for air. They chose swallows that are meant to bring good luck. Kindergarten students made Koinobori kite fish to represent water. The REES tree is topped with the sun to represent the element of fire. With the beautiful student artwork, Mrs. Giles created an amazing tree full of color and fun! If you visit Lewis Ginter this holiday season, please take time to check out our Eagles' work.
